New KPCC
President BK Hariprasad alleged on Tuesday that the BJP government at the
Centre was using the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to
create a Hindu Rashtra.
Speaking
at the South Canara District Committee meeting at the Kudmul Ranga Rao Town
Hall in Mangaluru, Hariprasad stated that “Under the guise of SIR, BJP and RSS
are carrying out a conspiracy to disenfranchise genuine voters”.
Stating
that “deleting voters by citing documentation is lethal to democracy”, he asked
who is mapping the native residents of South Canara district, such as the
Malekudiyas, Koragas, and Alemaris in remote villages, suggesting that the
exercise could disenfranchise minority and tribal communities.
“Whether
Christians or Muslims, RSS and BJP know how to remove minorities and they do
it,” Hariprasad said, according to a release on X. “Their aim is to make it a
Hindu nation; if they say none of them is a citizen of the country, that's it,
isn't it? That conspiracy is being carried out through SIR.”
He urged Congress workers to go door to door and protect the right of every voter.
